Articulation/Speech Therapy

Speech sound development standards have recently changed. Children should pronounce ALL speech sounds correctly by their sixth birthday¹.

If your child is struggling to produce certain speech sounds or is showing frustration with communication, give us a call. We provide evaluation and treatment of articulation disorders. We work with people of all ages on speech intelligibility.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Identification and treatment of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs). Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) addresses issues with tongue tie, tongue thrust, mouth breathing, chewing/swallowing difficulties, dental occlusion (alignment of teeth/bite), snoring, sleep apnea, TMJ pain, speech sound errors. If your physician or dentist has mentioned any of the above, we can help. We treat individuals of all ages.

Tongue Tie Identification/Therapy

Tongue tie is common and can be the root of the problem for feeding difficulties and speech sound errors. At Midwest Myofunctional and Speech Therapy, we are trained to identify anterior and posterior tongue ties in infants through adults. We provide therapy before and after the release procedure to train correct tongue positioning and function given increased range of motion.

Sucking Elimination Program

Does your child suck his/her thumb, pacifier, fingers, sippy cup, blanket or clothing? These habits can cause significant problems with dental and speech development. Prolonged sucking can also negatively impact facial growth and breathing. At Midwest Myofunctional and Speech Therapy, we offer a fun and rewarding individualized elimination program. If you are curious about how this program can help your child, please do not hesitate to call. Your child's dentist/orthodontist/speech therapist will be happy you did.
